Elikem Logan is a Ghanaian art historian and writer based between London and Accra. He is a specialist in West African modernism and contemporary art, with a particular focus on painting and sculpture from the postcolonial period. His research engages the intellectual, political, and cultural histories that shape art, exploring the legacies of colonialism, the politics of restitution, and Africa’s place within global modernism.

He began his career at Sotheby’s in London, where he was a cataloguer in the African Modern & Contemporary Art department. Since his departure in early 2025, Logan has advised private collectors, artists and institutions internationally.

His writing ranges from critical reviews and catalogue essays to longer analytical studies of African modern and contemporary art. He has spoken at the Oxford Africa Conference, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and the London Design Biennale, and regularly contributes to panels and public programmes on African art, heritage and culture.

He holds an MSc in African Studies from the University of Oxford, an MLitt in Legal and Constitutional Studies, and an MA in Art History and Management from the University of St Andrews.
